Spa group place cash on table

CHRISTMAS has come early for Pamela May volunteers thanks to big-hearted members of a Droitwich Spa organisation.
The town's branch of the Round Table has jumped aboard our Keep the Pamela May Afloat appeal.
After reading Advertiser/Messenger reports about good work carried out by the community narrow boat the group has offered its support in two stages.
The first is an immediate donation of £500.
This will be followed by 25 per cent of the club's December 2000 Christmas Sleigh Run collection.
The cash boost backs our bid to raise £5,000 to cover Pamela May maintenance and running costs during the 2001 season.
So far we have received more than £3,000.
Droitwich Spa Round Table community service officer Simon Cosson said: "By splitting the donation we can firstly help the trust reach its target and by giving money from the sleigh run Droitwich residents can get behind the appeal."
Branch chairman Alan Pearson said: "This charity is the kind of community based project we like to support."
Pamela May senior skipper Ben Lee said the response was unbelievable.
He added: "This latest donation is brilliant and I can assure members the funds will be put to good use.
"On Saturday November 4, the season comes to an end and we will be assessing how much work must be done over the winter period."
The Round Table is an organisation for 18-45 year old males and raises cash for charities as well as hosting social events.
